Reviews.....

These reviews have been collected from various Country Music Papers and Magazines, here is just a few things the press have had to say:

"First came a man who is really going places, Steve Travis. If you have not seen him yet then make an effort, but you may have to join a queue of ladies to present him with your red rose, because this is the sort of following that has built up after only a few months, He has that magic ingredient, Charisma. "

"Support act Steve Travis made the best of it in holiday camp style with " Rainbows & Roses" and "Memory Number One" Dapper in smart suit and bow tie he filled his time telling jokes and smiling rather a lot. His repertoire was varied ranging from Country and Irish, middle of the road, to a medley of numbers from the 40's & 50's from Johnny Ray and Miki and Griff. "Jonny's Coming Home" about the Vietnam War reminded me of "Deck Of Cards". I expected it to finish with the immortal words, "I know, I was that Soldier". The sparse audience found themselves clapping and singing along most of the time and he concluded his set with in my opinion the best Irish song ever written, "The Fields Of Athenry". With his cheeky grin, dimples and smooth voice, he reminded me of, dare I say it, Des O'Connor. That will bring a flurry of comments to the letters page, and if there is one thing both Steve and Des have in common (this will bring in more letters) they can both sing."

"What can I say about Steve Travis the sky is the limit for this man, as really good singer who had the audience with him from his first song and did not let them go. A truly remarkable performance from him. Do not miss this man he is really good, a night I shall remember for a long while, thank you."

"Steve Travis this guy gave us the performance of a lifetime. He has some special magic which brings joy to the heart. Keep it up Steve and you're going to be at the top before you know what hit you, Brilliant!!!!."

"Next up came Steve Travis who is right in the middle of an enjoyable tour supporting Raymond Froggatt. With his charisma he is always popular in this area and once again it did not take long for the red roses to appear as if by magic. Our host at this venue is Mo and Jean Brader, Jean presents Steve with an award in respects for his achievements in such a short time. During the evening voting took place for the best solo act to appear in the club in 94 with the Glad Epton Memorial Award up for grabs, and the best overall act of the year with the new Ricki Sylva Memorial Award in the offing. Steve Travis scooped the lot, and I can vouch that it was a fair ballot because Judy and I had the job of counting the slips."

"A solo artist to keep a close eye on is undoubtedly Steve Travis. This Essex based artist has a real future in front of him, he has the good looks to woo the ladies, the voice which allows him to be accepted by the men, and a special charisma that is inbred not acquired. Following an excellent performance, Steve sold out of everything he had to offer, tapes, photographs, scarves, badges, poster etc. etc."

"Then it was the time for Mr Travis, small in stature, but way above many in the personality stakes. It was a knockout stuff as far as Steve was concerned, he could not believe the standing ovation that he had and the two encores."

"Steve Travis opened the evening show and he is a solo act with many fans and certainly added to them this evening... a super start to the evening. I have not heard applause this enthusiastic for a solo artist in many a long year...and he sold out of his merchandise."

"Steve Travis just returned from Killarney Festival where he took the place by storm."

"Billed as "Britain’s Brightest Rising Star" Steve Travis looked the part with immaculate dress of black trousers, white shirt, red jacket and matching bow tie, but even that paled alongside the talent. I would only argue with one word in the billing and that is "rising" .... judging by his performance Steve Travis has arrived."

"After dinner it was time for the little chap who took them by storm on his first visit and here he was back for the third time, yes it had to be again Steve Travis. Steve again turned on the charm, kept the dance floor full with everyone singing along a real party mood throughout his set, which was once again excellent."

"Steve Travis appeared on Friday Night and I thought he was one of the best solo entertainers I have ever seen at a Pontins festival."
